Lesson 10: Service- Stacy Wells offers FREE COACHING for 30 Days

According the Webster’s Dictionary, Service is defined as “The act or occupation of serving, the manner in which one serves or is served.” What does service mean to you? We are all served daily by the people and relationships in our lives whether we recognize it or not. We are served by our waiters and waitresses. We are served by our military. We are served by our parents, spouses and children. And, we are also serving ourselves. Our world revolves around people giving to others. Including you! You see, it takes very little effort to be of service to others, and yet the rewards are beyond what anyone could imagine. Service is and always will be the HIGHEST form of LOVE. When you are in a space of providing service to another person, you immediately shift your focus away from yourself. You then become more concerned with loving another than drowning in your sorrows. Serving another human being is beyond satisfying; it is by far the most rewarding gesture you can make! Giving of yourself shows your selflessness. It shows your kindness and respect for all of humanity, and above all, it shows your true character! By allowing yourself to be in service to others you are opening your soul and allowing your spirit to shine through. Below is a list of a few ways you can be outwardly focused and not have to spend much money doing it.

1. Make a Meal for your family, neighbors, co-workers, or friends.
2. Shovel the snow your neighbors’ driveway.
3. Babysitting for your family, neighbors, co-workers, or friends.
4. Doing community service.
5. Help feed and cloth the homeless.
6. Volunteer at any Non-Profit organization.
7. Give your spouse a back massage.
8. Help you children clean up their rooms after a long day.
9. Donate your used clothing to a needy family or charity of your choice.
10. Take flowers to a stranger in the hospital.

I would like you to choose at least one thing you can do from the list above, or use one of your own ideas, and incorporate your act of service as you go about your day. As you are being outwardly focused, take notice of how it makes you feel to provide value to others’ lives. Take time today to pay it forward, as others have so graciously done for you. As you do this, know that you are not only serving others, but you are also filling your spirit full of love.

I have always enjoyed helping others. Even to the kind of work I do. I wish more people would be considerate to those around us.
